Abstract: Professor Edwin M. Elechi was a medical doctor who subsequently specialised in Surgery. He was from Rivers State, Nigeria, and had his primary, secondary, and medical education in Nigeria. He had his specialist training in the USA and Canada and worked briefly there. He was appointed a lecturer and an Honorary Consultant Surgeon at the University of Port Harcourt and the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital respectively. He rose to a professor and was the head of the department of surgery, and the dean of the Graduate School at the same university. He was an accomplished Trainer, Mentor, and Researcher, and in addition, he was a sound clinician, administrator, and traditional ruler.
