Abstract: This research work was undertaken to contribute in settling the perennial polemics surrounding the status of the English Language in Nigeria. It drew its data from the commercial sector in society which is one of the key sectors in Nigerian society.. Data revealed that Nigerian marketers are overwhelmingly in support of the use of the foreign language as a lingua franca in Nigeria.
