The impact of global warming on high-performance buildings in two European capitals: Analysing an optimistic scenario
Year: 2025
Type: conference-paper
Abstract: This study investigates the electricity balance of high-performance detached houses in Ljubljana and Lisbon under the present-day climate and SSP1-2.6 climate change scenario, focusing on the potential of roof-mounted PVs to achieve net-zero energy buildings (NZEB). Results show that in Ljubljana, additional PVs or other energy sources may be needed in winter months. On the contrary, in Lisbon, a specific percentage of roofs covered by PVs satisfies the electricity use yearround to achieve NZEB. The study confirms that, under the SSP1-2.6 scenario, all highperformance buildings can achieve NZEB by appropriately utilising roof space for PV installation, regardless of location.
