Abstract: The maternal experience of caesarean section in extreme emergency: a qualitative study during the maternity stay. Objective: to explore women's experiences of emergency caesarean sections, with the aim of gaining a better understanding of how women feel about this unexpected event, which can be traumatic. Method: qualitative study using classic exploratory thematic analysis, conducted with ten women who had undergone an emergency caesarean section. Interviews were of the semi-directive debriefing type. Results: extreme experience, the extraordinariness of the event, imagined childbirth, interpersonal experience and involvement with the child are the themes found through thematic analysis that allow us to study the intensity of the event. Conclusion: the results suggest that there may be a traumatic experience. More research is needed in this area.
