Preservice Mathematics Teachers’ Appraisal of Competency Demands in a Mathematical Task

Abstract: Individuals develop mathematical competencies by working mathematically in different contexts/settings/situations. The present study analyzed preservice teachers’ identification of the level of competency demands in a geometry task using a researcher-developed item analysis scheme. Educational and practical implications are discussed.
