Risk Promotion: a Path to Skin Cancer Prevention from an Outreach Perspective
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Cancer has become a global health problem. The average rate is estimated at at least 150 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Epidemiological studies have shown that the main risk factors for the development of skin cancer in the population are sun exposure and sensitivity to ultraviolet radiation. Skin cancer is a preventable disease; risk promotion activities lead to the prevention of this type of cancer. Prevention activities should be considered from the beginning of undergraduate training for medical students. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to propose an outreach strategy for training medical students in risk promotion as a means of skin cancer prevention through university outreach.
