Erweiterung des Itempools für eine adaptive Variante eines Big Five Persönlichkeitsinventars: Faktor Offenheit

Year: 2018
Type: dissertation
Abstract: Scientists have been trying to develop a stable taxonomy for the human personality starting from the 1960ies and discovered five basic personality dimensions. The most common labelling for the five factors is Extraversion, Neuroticism, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness and Openness. This thesis examines the history of the Big Five and strives to extend the dimension Openness and its facets following the established Inventory BFSI (Big Five Struktur Inventar, Arendasy, 2009).60 items were generated for the six facets Fantasy, Aesthetics, Feelings, Actions, Ideas and Values.A sample of 268 people rated the new items in an online questionnaire.Furthermore, the correlation between the six facets of Openness and intelligence was examined, measured with a figural matrices test (GEOM, Arendasy, 2005).An exploratory factor analysis was executed to reveal the structure of the factors and was largely confirmed. To prove the convergent validity of the Openness scale correlations were used with the Openness scale of the BFSI (Arendasy, 2009).The results confirmed the convergent validity. To see whether there were any connections between the intelligence measured with the figural matrices test and the facets of openness, correlations were calculated. The results showed correlations between intelligence and two facets on the scale.
