Abstract: The aim: The aim of this study was to investigate how a diagnosis of ADHD in adult women affects their psychosocial well-being, focusing on interpersonal relationships, work life and self-image. Method: This literature review used 13 peer-reviewed articles to answer the research questions. Main results: The literature findings have shown that a more positive development of quality of life, mental health, and success in education and work occurs when women receive understanding and support from both formal and informal resources at an early age, and not in adulthood. The consequences of late diagnosis were found to be negative, although the majority experienced positive changes. The negative consequences included conflicts with self-image and perception of reality, and changes in close relationships.
