Abstract: Malik Vicdani Aksel has a multifaceted identity as an educator, painter, writer, collector and folklore researcher, and it is a difficult task to comprehensively address him in a single article. A complete analysis of the life, works and world of thought of an artist with such a wide field of work inevitably carries the risk of containing some deficiencies and superficial approaches. For this reason, our study focuses particularly on Aksel's understanding of art, his writings and interviews. While the article narrates the artist's life in chronological order, it also includes brief notes on the effects of the social and political developments of the period and the changes in the art scene in Turkey on Aksel's work. In this way, it is aimed to evaluate the artist's works in a broader context and to understand how they were shaped by the conditions of the period. These notes on Aksel's artistic life make it possible to follow both the artist's personal and professional developments.
