Abstract: In this article, the author presents a practice-oriented approach to the professional profiles of future heads of general secondary education institutions. The professional profile of the future head of an institution of general secondary education is positioned as a scientific and theoretical model of the professional portrait of an educational manager, which a master’s student dynamically examines during the process of studying for a master's degree at a pedagogical university. The didactic conditions for the implementation of a practice-oriented approach to the professional profile of future heads of general secondary education institutions in the professional training of master’s students are highlighted: 1) addition of the educational component "Educational Management" of the master's program "Management of an educational institution" with the module "Professional program of the head of a general secondary education institution"; 2) conducting workshops for master's students "Organizational and pedagogical activity of the head of a general secondary education institution" on the basis of institutions with the involvement of educational managers; 3) develop the professional profile of the future head of a general secondary education institution using mind mapping technology in the context of "theory-practice".
