Abstract: Cervical cancer is one of the cancers with the highest incidence and mortality among \nwomen from all over the world, finding that it is paradoxical if one considers that the \ncervix is easily accessible and there duly proven strategies that allow early diagnosis and \ntreatment. In order to determine whether early initiation of intercourse and number of \ncoital partners are risk factors for cervical cancer, we conducted a case control study. \nCases where taken (50) confirmed cervical Cancer Program Support Hospital II – 2 \nSullana, January – December 2013 and controls (100) were women of childbearing age \ntreated in the program. After obtaining the data we used the chi-square test, setting the \nsignificance level at P < 0.05. We found that the age of first intercourse occurred before \nage 18 was a significant relationship with the presence of cervical cancer. (OR = 7.76). In \nrelation to the number of sexual partners, the studied population had two or more sexual \npartners which shows a significant relationship between this risk factor and cancer of the \ncervix (OR = 4.20)
