Os processos de piping antropogênico, sua ocorrência em áreas urbanizadas

Abstract: Anthropogenic Geomorphology has emerged in recent decades as a central field for analyzing the interactions between human activity, landforms, and geomorphological processes. Urban densities have emerged as obvious expressions of human action in modifying landscapes, offering crucial areas for observing the effects of these interventions on the energy and matter flows. In urbanized environments, human presence conditions these flows through a built landscape characterized by heterogeneous materials and specific dynamics. This article aims to differentiate anthropogenic piping processes from natural / spontaneous piping processes, presenting vital points for their differentiation. In order to identify and classify the processes, we utilized the methodology proposed by Danelon and Barcelos (2023). The study shows six occurrences of anthropogenic piping in the municipality of Uberlândia (MG), Brazil, thus highlighting their strong connection with anthropogenic structures present in the subsurface. This anthropogenic component, which conditions geomorphological processes, characterizes them as anthropogenic induced processes, given their characteristics. Failure to recognize these anthropogenic processes directly compromises the understanding of the dynamics of geomorphological processes in urbanized environments. Therefore, it is hoped that the facts presented in this publication will contribute to the evolution of the discussion regarding the differentiation between anthropogenic induced processes triggered in urbanized environments and natural / spontaneous geomorphological processes.
