Abstract: The article, based on current legislation, examines proceedings in cases of administrative offenses in the field of road traffic as a means of preventive activity. The relevance is due to the large number of road accidents, which implies the need to influence road users by strengthening the prevention of administrative offenses. The object of the study is social relations that arise in the field of ensuring road safety. The subject is regulatory legal acts of the legislation of Ukraine, international treaties and agreements in the field of ensuring road safety. The research methodology is based on the dialectical method of scientific knowledge. It is noted that ensuring road safety is the activity of authorized entities in the field of road traffic, aimed at protecting the legitimate rights and interests, life and health of a person, protecting the interests of society and the state from the threats posed by road traffic. It is indicated that an administrative offense in the field of road traffic is an encroachment on public relations in the field of road traffic safety, an unlawful, culpable socially dangerous act ofa driver of a vehicle, pedestrian or other road user, official, legal entity committed in the process of participating in road traffic, for which the Code of Administrative Offenses establishes administrative liability. Proceedings in cases of administrative offenses in the field of road traffic are a derivative of the concept of proceedings in cases of administrative offenses, constitute the activities of competent entities regulated by administrative procedural norms, carried out in the field of road traffic, the application of jurisdictional measures in cases of administrative offenses in this area. Features of proceedings in cases of administrative offenses in the field of road traffic: a special range of measures to ensure the proceedings; specific evidence and features of proof; the possibility of conducting an administrative investigation; types of administrative penalties imposed for these offenses; focus on road traffic safety.
