Abstract: The article explores legal logic through the lens of the ideas of the prominent Ukrainian philosopher, cultural historian, literary scholar, and Slavic studies expert Dmytro Chyzhevskyi. Particular attention is given to his work «Logic: Lecture Notes» (1924), which became one of the first Ukrainian-language textbooks on logic and contains unique methodological approaches to analyzing thinking, the structure of argumentation, and the categorization of concepts. The article examines the main directions of Chyzhevskyi’s development of logic, including empirical, mathematical, and transcendental logic, the historical-methodological approach, and the critique of psychologism. The influence of his logical concepts on the formation of the Ukrainian academic tradition and their relevance in the field of jurisprudence are analyzed. A special emphasis is placed on the role of logic in legal practice, particularly in analyzing normative legal acts, court decisions, formalizing arguments, and eliminating logical errors in legal texts. The principles proposed by Chyzhevskyi, such as structured thinking, the hierarchy of concepts, and the axiomatic approach, can be effectively applied to organizing legal norms and constructing a coherent legal system. The interdisciplinary nature of logic in his conception is highlighted, encompassing not only philosophy and mathematics but also jurisprudence, history, culture, and art. The article also sheds light on the historical aspects of Chyzhevskyi’s scientific legacy, including the difficulties in studying it due to the context of his emigration and the influence of Soviet ideology on the perception of his works. During the Soviet era in Ukraine, Dmytro Chyzhevskyi was considered an enemy of the Soviet people because he used concepts such as «nation» and «national identity» in his works and referred to the manuscripts of philosophical and theological lectures by Ukrainian scholars and thinkers, including Stefan Yavorsky, Theophan Prokopovych, Hryhorii Skovoroda, and others. The article aims to popularize Dmytro Chyzhevskyi’s logical ideas in modern legal science and emphasize their significance for the development of legal analytics, judicial argumentation, and the formation of legal culture in Ukraine. Although Chyzhevskyi’s lecture notes on logic were not specifically created for legal professionals, they contain universal approaches that can be adapted to jurisprudence.
