Abstract: Introduction: Chronic low back pain is a major current public health problem. The physical, psychological, and socio-professional repercussions reduce the quality of life for chronic low back pain patients. Objectives: The aim of this literature review was to determine the benefit of a multidisciplinary program including physical, psychological/behavioral and ergonomic education components in comparison to conventional physiotherapy treatment in the management of non-specific chronic low back pain patients. The outcome measures examined were (on) medium- and long-term quality of life, pain and disability. Method: The PubMed, Cochrane Library, and Pedro electronic databases were searched until January 2024. Results: Seven randomized clinical trials were included in this literature review with a sample of 973 patients with non-specific chronic low back pain aged over 18 years old. The multidisciplinary program did not demonstrate any significant clinical effect compared to conventional physiotherapy treatment. The results remained uncertain due to the heterogeneity of the studies included in their intervention (measurement tools, variability of measurement times) and the interpretability of the results. Multidisciplinary programs had a very low quality of evidence in their impact on medium- and long-term quality of life, pain and disability. Conclusion: This literature review does not confirm the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary program compared to physiotherapy treatment on medium- and long-term quality of life, pain and disability. Finally, more homogeneous studies on the long-term impact of this program are recommended in order to obtain quantifiable results.
