Type: article
Abstract: Currently, there are few studies about the checkpoints in the Kai region that focus on their relationship with the people and the local economy. Therefore, I investigated historical documents regarding the stance and the income by the checkpoints of the localize lords who managed the checkpoints. In addition, I investigated the quantity and type of goods passing through the border checkpoints by the transit passes. Based on these surveys, I revealed how much of the profits from the checkpoint tolls was returned to the local community and what impact the checkpoints had logistics.
