Trait-State Emotion Regulation Convergence

Year: 2018
Type: preprint
Study design: Observational Study
Abstract: The goals of this paper are to (1) test the relationship between trait and state emotion regulation and (2) test the effects of trait-state emotion regulation convergence on emotional well-being. We test these predictions across four large datasets (Study 1: N = 150; Study 2: N = 200; Study 3: N = 417; Study 4: N = 272) that include trait and state measures of two commonly used emotion regulation strategies (expressive suppression and cognitive reappraisal) and measures of global emotional well-being.
