Abstract: The article examines the peculiarities of students’ motivation for engaging in physical education as a complex psychological and pedagogical phenomenon. The authors analyze the key factors influencing the formation of motivation during school age, including biological sex, age-related characteristics, social environment, and pedagogical influences. Contemporary approaches to studying motivation in the educational process are described, along with various stimuli that can either enhance students’ interest (competition, praise, clearly defined goals) or weaken it (excessive pressure, ineffective evaluation, lack of support).
