Abstract: This article examines the process of developing the artistic and creative competence of preschool children through folk choreography. The significance of folk dance as an effective tool for the aesthetic, physical, and emotional development of a child is determined. Methods and techniques involving preschoolers in traditional choreographic culture that contribute to the development of their creativity, musical and rhythmic sense, and communication skills are analyzed. Special attention should be paid to the role of the teacher in creating a favorable educational environment for the formation of artistic abilities. The features of the use of folk costumes in the choreographic activities of preschoolers have been clarified, which is an important element of the formation of artistic and creative competence, which not only strengthens the artistic and aesthetic aspect of dance but also contributes to the upbringing of national self-awareness, cultural identity, and creative development of children. The features of raising preschool children, a sense of style and beauty through the perception of folk choreographic art, the development of aesthetic taste, social skills and responsibility and the stimulation of creative potential are analyzed. The formation of artistic and creative competence contributes to the development of children’s ability to generate new ideas, create their own artistic images, and convey feelings, emotions and thoughts through folk dance art.
