Flat-Top Profile Laser Heater As an Alternative to Laguerre-Gaussian Mode Laser Heater in Free-Electron Lasers

Abstract: Laguere Gaussian laser heater profiles have been extensively studied and shown to be extremely effective in suppressing microbunching instability.Here, we present an alternative solution to the laser profile that is able to defend more in laser jitter and discuss its advantages and disadvantages to the LG01 profile.
