Abstract: Summary \nThe topic for this master thesis is the experiences novice teachers get when they start their professional career as a teacher. The thesis has a special focus on how these teachers make their plans for the teaching, and describes elements that may influence their work. Elements that may be important for their further professional qualification are also studied. The research question for the thesis is: How do these novice teachers experience their meeting with the teaching profession with a special focus on making plans for their teaching? Novice teachers may experience that the change from studies to professional work is demanding. Making plans is an important part of a teacher`s work, and the teacher has to use both national curriculum (LK06) and local plans when preparing for what the students are going to learn, and this is also true for the novice teacher. In this qualitative study nine novice teachers have been interviewed about how they experience the meeting with the teaching profession and what types of teaching material they use when they make plans for their teaching. Results show that the experiences of the amount of work and time are especially demanding for the novice teacher. Making plans is an important part of this work. The novice teacher often spends much time on making detailed plans. The textbook is often of good support more than plans for the year and LK06. Different strategies to handle the amount of work, and different types of support leads to different experiences for this group of teachers. Taking part in discussions and reflections on teaching practice is crucial for further qualification in their professional teaching career. Results show that the novice teacher usually takes part in teamwork, but the content of the teamwork varies. Support and cooperation with colleges and teams are of great value for a good professional meeting. Results of my research show that there are both good and bad experiences of meetings with the teaching profession. The results of my research are consistent with previous research, and emphasize the value of both cooperation and guidence from colleagues that give support, leading to further development of reflexive professional practice.
