Activity-dependent plasticity in the developing cortex
Year: 2022
Type: dissertation
Abstract: The brain of a newborn animal undergoes an intricate developmental process before it can instruct the animal’s behavior. The developmental process is shaped by neural activity produced in the absence of sensory stimulation, called spontaneous activity. Our understanding of the activity-dependent development of the brain remains limited. Here, I investigate the interplay between spontaneous activity and plasticity across development at multiple scales: the molecular, dendritic, and network level.
