Abstract: This study focuses on developing analyses and models using open public data provided by the Brazilian Federal Highway Police Department (DPRF) to advance public health insights and create an analytical dashboard for data monitoring and hypothesis formulation. A target of the Sustainable Development Goals for Health and Well-being (SDG 3) is to “halve global deaths and injuries from road accidents by 2030.” Although fatal accidents decreased from 2010 to 2020, they have been rising since then, placing Brazil among the top countries with the highest traffic accident fatalities, thus representing a significant public health issue. The findings indicate that the primary causes of fatalities include specific human errors, such as illegal overtaking, poor road conditions, such as single-lane roads in rural areas, and peak times of high traffic volume during weekends and nighttime.
