Type: article
Abstract: During the embryonic and fetal periods, the most important \nneurodevelopmental processes occur, such as proliferation, differentiation, \nsynaptogenesis, myelination, and migration of neurons. The psychophysical \ncondition of a pregnant woman may be considered as a possible determining \nfactor for the further typical or atypical child development. An important \nfactor with potentially negative consequences for fetal development during \npregnancy is the emotional state of the mother. Prenatal fetal exposure to \nmaternal stress increases the risk of early developmental disorders as well \nas disorders in adulthood. In addition to presenting the neurophysiological \nmechanism of stress, the paper discusses the possible impact of prenatal stress \non the occurrence of neurodevelopmental disorder. Particular consideration \nis given to prenatal stress as a risk factor in children with autism spectrum \ndisorder and children with ADHD syndrome. Based on the presented \nindicators, a conclusion is drawn about the necessity of implementing \npreventive measures regarding environmental factors such as maternal stress, \nwhich may be determining factors for further offspring development
