Influence des modifications des facteurs environnementaux, socio-économiques et culturels sur l'épidémiologie des maladies vectorielles

Year: 2008
Type: dissertation
Abstract: For several decades, vector-born diseases have known disruptions of their epidemiology. Some appeared in new territories, while others spread. This synthesis shows through four examples (bluetongue, chikungunya, lyme disease and tick-borne encephalitis) that emergence or reemergence increases nowadays because of global change (global warming, globalisation of trade and travel...). Indeed, vectorial systems depend on numerous biotics, abiotics and non biological factors, that are all influenced by human activities. Thanks to knowledge of these factors, scientists will be able to make tools in order to predict and prevent introduction, establishment and spreading of a vector-borne disease in the context of global change.
