När tekniken förändrar arbetet : En fallstudie om ledarskapets roll i digital transformation vid AI-implementering
Year: 2025
Type: dissertation
Abstract: The ongoing digital transformation, particularly through the implementation of AI technologies, is reshaping how organizations operate, structure their work, and exercise leadership. However, it is important to recognize that these changes unfold within unique organizational contexts shaped by factors such as strategy, culture, developmental stage, and market position. This case study investigates how leadership is influenced by and responds to the introduction of AI in a Swedish service organization (Company X). By combining the Digital Maturity Model (DMM) with an updated version of the Transformative Leadership Competencies Framework (TLCF), the study analyzes how digital- and leadership capabilities interact in this specific setting. The findings, based on interviews with both leaders and employees directly involved in the implementation, show that leadership played a crucial role in translating strategic ambitions into practical engagement. At the same time, challenges were identified, including varying levels of engagement with the new AI tool and, to some extent, shortcomings in communication during the early stages of the process. The leaders’ ability to foster presence, stability, and clarity proved essential in managing uncertainty and promoting participation. The study also presents a model that enables a nuanced analysis of how digital transformation manifests across different parts of the organization. While the results are context-specific and cannot be directly generalized to other organizations, the study offers valuable insights that may be applicable in similar settings where comparable conditions exist.
