Abstract: This work discusses the transformations and continuities that have occurred in Praça da Sé, located in the city of São Paulo, Brazil, throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. The research identifies the different appearances the square has acquired and creates a historiographical periodization to understand the urbanistic ideals responsible for its configurations. The research aims to identify, through iconographic and cartographic analyses, the physical attributes of the square that have withstood time and that resonate in present uses and occupations, analyzed through post-occupancy evaluation.
