Triangulating the evidence for efficacy and effectiveness of antipsychotics by combining randomized clinical trials and real-world data

Year: 2022
Type: preprint
Abstract: The overall aim of this study is to estimate relative effects of antipsychotics for schizophrenia and schizoaffective disorder using evidence on both relative efficacy and real-world effectiveness. Efficacy will be derived from relapse prevention randomized controlled trials (RCTs); real-world (RW) effectiveness will be derived from Finnish and Swedish national registries. Specific aims are to i) compare effect estimates between RCTs and RW; and ii) use results from both RCTs and RW to estimate overall relative effects in a joint analysis of RCT and RW data.
