Lattes Platform and scientific production in Brazil: brief considerations on the development of science based on data registered for the period 1901-1999

Abstract: This study analyzes the development of Brazilian science between 1901 and 1999, based on data from the Lattes Platform. The quantitative analysis, despite temporal and methodological limitations, offers an overview of Brazil's nearly century-long journey in building a solid scientific system. The trajectory began with only two registered works in 1901, culminating in over 122,000 registrations in 1999. This growth reflects not only quantitative expansion but also the political, economic, and social changes that shaped Brazil throughout the 20th century.
