Mental Health at Your Fingertips: Evaluating the Impact of Mobile Applications through Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
Year: 2025
Type: review
Abstract: This systematic review and meta-analysis investigate the effectiveness of smartphone-based psychological interventions because digital health solutions are expanding rapidly. The library catalog search for "mental health app" yielded 959 results, which included 932 recent publications from the last ten years and 762 recent publications from the last five years. The expanding number of publications in this research field indicates rising academic interest. Research on these treatments shows growing popularity, but more comprehensive evaluations are needed to understand their effectiveness and lasting effects. The research addresses these gaps by evaluating both success factors and the overall effectiveness of these interventions and by adding data from developing regions, including Brazil, China, and Türkiye . Including these three developing nation studies out of twenty-eight is necessary to create a global understanding of method applicability. The review evaluates therapy benefits duration by using follow-up data to understand long-term mental health application effectiveness. The findings from this study will direct the creation and delivery of evidence-based digital mental health solutions that serve different population groups.
