Abstract: Education is a process that has evolved since the dawn of human civilization. Until the 20th century, pedagogy, meaning "the art and science of guiding children," dominated the educational world. This model assumed the learner was a passive recipient and the teacher was the sole source of knowledge, making all decisions. While suitable for children, its limitations became apparent when applied to adults. In the mid-20th century, Malcolm Knowles introduced "andragogy," meaning "the art and science of adult education." This revolutionary theory is based on the fundamental truth that adults learn differently from children due to their distinct psychological make-up, life experiences, learning needs, and motivations. Therefore, an educational model that respects their maturity, autonomy, and experiences is required for adults.
