Abstract: [Anonymous Epicurean author], [History of the Pythagorean school (?)], PHerc. 1508. Edition, introduction, and commentary · PHerc. 1508 preserves according to its first editor, W. Crönert, the fragments of the so-called [Index Pythagoreorum]. However, my new edition of the papyrus reveals that PHerc. 1508 may contain the βίοι of some ancient doctors. Thus, the attribution of this papyrus to Philodemus’ Ϲύνταξιϲ τῶν φιλοϲόφων appears to be questionable. The author of the work remains unknown. This article presents a new and annotated edition of the papyrus based on autopsy of the original manuscript in Naples. The edition includes many fragments which are edited for the first time here.
