Abstract: Hellwigia multispica (Ridl.) Senjaya & A. D. Poulsen comb. nov. Eriolopha multispica Ridl., Trans. Linn. Soc. London, Bot. 9: 220 1916 (Basionym). Alpinia multispica (Ridl.) Loes., Nat. Pflanzenfam. ed. 2, 15 a: 622 1930. Type: Indonesia. Papua: Mt. Carstensz, Camp VIb, C. B. Kloss s. n. (29 Jan 1913) (lectotype: second step, designated here, BM! [BM 000617290]). Notes. In the protologue, Ridley (1916) mentioned another collection of C. B. Kloss from Camp VIc, which we were unable to locate. We therefore designate the collection from Camp VIb as the lectotype.
