Paper 80: Multi-Lane Morphology Audit of the Low-ℓ CMB: Cuboctahedral Projection, Local Candidates, and Matched-Null Controls

Type: article
Abstract: This paper retests whether the large-angle structure of the cosmic microwave background shows cuboctahedral morphology. The analysis uses real Planck SMICA temperature data, the Planck common mask, same-power isotropic null maps, and matched orientation scans for both observed and null skies. Earlier versions of this paper interpreted several low-ell features as evidence for a broad cuboctahedral harmonic selection pattern. The revised audit uses stricter controls and reaches a narrower conclusion. The broad claim that the low-ell CMB is confirmed to follow cuboctahedral structure is not supported by the revised same-power null tests. Most tested modes remain compatible with null skies once the null maps receive the same mask, harmonic isolation, projection, and orientation freedom as the observed sky. However, the audit does identify several local morphology candidates. The clearest current candidate is an ell = 9 alignment-style feature, which appears in both absolute-amplitude and face-power lanes. The ell = 4 mode remains interesting as a targeted dropout candidate. Weaker local candidates also appear at ell = 10 and ell = 16, depending on the diagnostic lane. The main result is therefore diagnostic rather than confirmatory. Cuboctahedral projection remains useful as a morphology lens for organizing low-ell CMB structure, but the evidence is lane-dependent and sensitive to angle-depth design, random seed choices, and recovered runner details. The paper does not claim a global cuboctahedral detection. Instead, it narrows the earlier claim into a reproducible audit and identifies candidate lanes for future confirmatory testing. The next step is to freeze the surviving ell-sets and diagnostic lanes before execution, increase the number of null maps, and report both local and global corrections.
