Synergistic Work

Abstract: This study introduces and examines the concept of synergistic work, which arises when a body is simultaneously subjected to several non-parallel forces. In classical mechanics, total work is usually expressed as the sum of the individual works of the forces; however, based on Newton’s first corollary, cross-terms can also be formulated, describing a new mechanism of energy transfer. These cross-terms are defined as synergistic work. The paper presents the A-spring model, in which synergistic work can also be experimentally verified: the measured difference between kinetic and potential energy coincided with the theoretical calculations. The phenomenon does not violate the principle of energy conservation; rather, it introduces a new concept, the synergistic potential, which expresses the energy stored in the interaction of forces. The work provides a historical comparison of Newton’s and Lagrange’s formalisms and highlights the limitations of the Lagrangian approach. Finally, the concept extends toward biological, engineering, and social systems, where synergistic effects likewise play a fundamental role.
