Paper 90: Resonant Absorption and Forbidden Multipoles in the Low- CMB — A Consolidated Analysis of Planck PR3
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Paper 90 tests a narrow low-multipole pattern in the Planck 2018 CMB temperature sky using SMICA and Commander maps. The tested statistic is the modal amplitude |a_l0| for multipoles l = 2 through 12. Earlier exploratory versions used an m-shuffle reference, but this corrected version uses SO(3) map-rotation nulls, which are more appropriate for a masked-sky modal statistic. The paper also corrects the Commander input by using the actual Commander CMB temperature map rather than a component map. The central result is not a single-multipole anomaly. No individual multipole reaches familywise significance after correcting for the scan over eleven multipoles. Instead, the paper tests a predeclared four-mode pattern motivated by Holosphere Theory: l = 2 and l = 4 are treated as modal-positive channels, while l = 5 and l = 7 are treated as modal-negative channels. The combined pattern score is calibrated empirically against the same SO(3) null ensemble. Across SMICA and Commander, and across 2 degree, 3 degree, and 5 degree mask apodizations, the empirical pattern-level probability remains stable near 0.033 to 0.038. This is interpreted as modest directional support for the predeclared low-l modal pattern, not as discovery-level evidence for a new CMB anomaly. The result is best understood as a two-map corrected diagnostic anchor. Broader claims would require replication in NILC and SEVEM, additional mask controls, and joint map-stability tests.
