For detailed diagnostic characters of the genus, see Souma and Kamitani (2021) and Souma (2022 a). Remarks. The monotypic genus Acanthomoplax, which is endemic to the Ogasawara Islands, Japan, comprises only A. tomokunii distributed in Chichijima and Hahajima groups (Souma and Kamitani 2021; Souma 2022 a).
