The S=T×C×DB Framework for Societal Success: Complete Theoretical Architecture and Empirical Validation
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This document presents the S=T×C×DB Framework, a universal model for understanding and predicting societal success through the multiplicative interaction of Trust (T), Consensus (C), and Dual Benefit (DB). The framework posits that societies succeed when trust rises above a critical threshold (τ* ≈ 0.68), when decision-making and implementation intertwine to generate consensus that reinforces trust, and when cooperation is intentionally designed for dual benefit. Unlike additive models that treat these as independent factors, this framework demonstrates their multiplicative relationship: the absence of any component reduces societal success to zero, while their interaction creates non-linear amplification effects. Empirical validation across 79 microinsurance schemes (1,580 quarterly observations) and 19,515 country-year observations confirms the framework's predictive power. Causal identification through randomized controlled trials, instrumental variables, regression discontinuity designs, and difference-in-differences analysis establishes that these relationships are causal, not merely correlational. The trust threshold of τ* = 0.68 emerges consistently across micro, meso, and macro levels of analysis, establishing a fundamental constant in social organization analogous to critical points in physical systems. This framework offers operational tools for institutional design, policy evaluation, and development interventions.
