The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Predicting and Preventing Cyber Attacks
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: The accelerating sophistication of cyber threats has rendered traditional security strategies inadequate, driving industries to explore advanced solutions such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). This study examines the role of AI in predicting and preventing cyber attacks, highlighting both its transformative opportunities and inherent risks. AI-powered tools—including machine learning, behavioral analytics, and predictive modeling—offer proactive defenses capable of detecting anomalies, mitigating vulnerabilities, and automating incident response. Empirical evidence demonstrates that organizations integrating AI report notable improvements in detection accuracy and response efficiency, underscoring its value in modern cybersecurity frameworks. However, the integration of AI also introduces significant challenges, including susceptibility to adversarial manipulation, the persistence of false positives, and ethical concerns surrounding data privacy and surveillance. Through an analysis of industry applications and case studies, this research emphasizes the dual nature of AI as both a defensive asset and a potential vector of risk. The findings underscore the necessity for a balanced approach that couples technological innovation with regulatory oversight and human expertise. Ultimately, the study concludes that AI is not a standalone solution but rather a powerful enabler of cybersecurity resilience when deployed responsibly within ethical and governance frameworks.
