Abstract: This article examines the growth and significance of international trade in agricultural products, which plays a crucial role in the global food supply chain. It demonstrates the substantial increase in trade volume and value over the past 30 years due to the development of agricultural production, technological advancements, and changes in trade policy. The important role of international trade in meeting the growing global demand under conditions of limited natural resources is emphasized. The article also reveals the important significance of safety standards, such as phytosanitary and sanitary regulations, in the international trade of agricultural products for protecting consumer health, reducing trade barriers, facilitating market access, enhancing competitiveness, and strengthening trade relations. The significance of international standards in the agricultural sector is also examined.
