Poetry and Migration in Asia: Tradition, Exile, and Cultural Resilience
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article explores the role of poetry in Asian migration experiences, focusing on how literary traditions across the continent respond to exile, displacement, and cultural resilience. Asia’s vast history of migration—ranging from ancient Silk Road exchanges to contemporary labor migration and refugee crises—has produced a rich body of poetic expression. Poetry in this context reflects both personal and collective struggles, while also serving as a medium for cultural preservation and adaptation. By examining voices from South Asia, East Asia, and the Middle East, the study highlights the diverse ways poetry transforms migration into a narrative of survival, identity, and hope.
