iSamples to iPlaces Workshop Report: Managing Place-based Research Data, Samples, and other Outputs

Abstract: The iSamples to iPlaces Workshop was held from February 24 to 28, 2025, at the University of California’s Richard B. Gump South Pacific Research Station on Moorea, French Polynesia. The meeting brought together investigators from the iSamples project and other adjacent projects. Participants included field station directors, technologists, metadata specialists, archaeologists, ecologists, materials scientists, and community partners. The workshop built on the foundation of prior iSamples efforts, consolidating lessons learned and charting next steps toward iPlaces as a station-centered publishing and governance platform.
