Trusting Faith amid Injustice: A Theological Exploration of Faith and Perseverance

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: Injustice is a recurring reality in human history, often manifesting through social, political, economic, and cultural structures that marginalize and oppress individuals and communities. For Christians, the question of how to sustain faith amid such realities is both a theological and existential concern. This study explores the theological dimensions of trusting God in the midst of injustice, drawing insights from biblical narratives, theological reflections, and contemporary contexts of suffering. The paper argues that Christian perseverance is not rooted in denial of suffering but in confidence in God’s sovereign justice and steadfast love. Biblical figures such as Job, Joseph, and the early Christian martyrs illustrate how trust in God provides strength and hope when human systems fail. Theologically, the cross of Christ stands as the ultimate paradigm of divine solidarity with human suffering, assuring believers that God is present even in the darkest moments. In contemporary settings, where injustice manifests in poverty, corruption, gender inequality, and political oppression, trusting God becomes both a source of personal resilience and a catalyst for prophetic engagement in society. Ultimately, faith amid injustice calls believers to persevere with hope, embody love, and commit to transformative action, confident that divine justice will prevail.
