Abstract: ABSTRACTOpen Reduction Internal Fixation (ORIF) is a standard surgicalprocedure for managing distal radius fractures, one of themost common musculoskeletal injuries. Post-ORIF patientsoften experience several nursing problems, including acutepain, limited knowledge regarding wound care, and anincreased risk of infection due to the invasive procedure. This study describes the nursing care provided to Mrs. S inthe Mawar 2 Ward of Dr. Soeselo Regional General Hospital,Tegal Regency, from January 13 to 15, 2025, using thenursing process approach, which includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Theresults showed a decrease in pain intensity after theadministration of analgesics and relaxation techniques, improved patient understanding of postoperative woundcare, and adequate wound management. Although the risk ofinfection was not completely resolved due to timelimitations, the overall nursing care helped meet thepatient’s basic needs, accelerated the healing process, andincreased patient participation in self-care.Keywords: acute pain, distal radius fracture, ORIF,knowledge deficit, infection risk, nursing care.
