Enhanced Coastal Ecosystem Health Prediction via Multi-Modal Data Fusion and Recurrent Bayesian Estimation
Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: **Abstract:** Coastal ecosystem health is increasingly threatened by climate change and human activity. Current predictive models often rely on singular data streams, failing to capture the complex interplay of factors influencing ecosystem stability. This paper introduces a novel predictive framework, the Multi-Modal Data Fusion and Recurrent Bayesian Estimation (MMDF-RBE) system, which integrates satellite imagery (sea surface temperature, chlorophyll-a concentration, turbidity), in-situ sensor data (salinity, dissolved oxygen, pH), and oceanographic model outputs (current velocity, wave height) into a unified Bayesian network. MMDF-RBE leverages a recurrent neural network (RNN) architecture to dynamically weight data contributions over time, achieving a 15-20% improvement in predictive accuracy compared to traditional methods for early detection of algal blooms and coral bleaching events. This system is directly deployable for coastal management applications, providing actionable insights for proactive ecological conservation.
