Evaluating the Efficacy of NEMA 1 Organic Carbon in Industrial Pig Farm Environmental Treatment

Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This technical report presents an in-depth analysis of the NEMA 1 Organic Carbon solution's efficacy in mitigating severe environmental pollution at industrial pig farms, using a case study at Tan Kim Farm, Thai Nguyen, Vietnam. The industrial pig farming sector faces a critical challenge from air and waste pollution (primarily Ammonia - NH₃ and Hydrogen Sulfide - H₂S), leading to significant economic losses, disease risks, and legal liabilities. The NEMA 1 solution is introduced as a breakthrough physicochemical technology, distinct from traditional biological (probiotic) or chemical methods. Its mechanism relies on altering the waste environment through high alkalinity (pH > 8) and strong antioxidant capacity (ORP < -200mV), which inhibits odor-producing anaerobic bacteria and chemically breaks down toxic gas molecules at their source. The case study was systematically conducted at a 2,000-head finishing pig farm. An automated misting system was installed for precise application of the NEMA 1 solution. Efficacy was measured quantitatively using a specialized Shinyei OMX-ADM (Japan) odor and toxic gas meter before and after implementation. The results demonstrated a remarkable and rapid improvement: after just 5 days, the concentration of odors and toxic gases in the barn air was reduced by an average of 78%, with reduction rates at various points ranging from 72% to 82%. The report concludes that NEMA 1 is not merely an odor control product but a strategic tool for risk management and production optimization. By drastically improving the barn environment, it directly contributes to enhanced livestock health, reduced disease rates, and improved Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR). Furthermore, it supports a circular economy model by converting hazardous waste into valuable organic fertilizer. The investment in NEMA 1 is positioned as a strategic input for improving productivity, sustainability, and long-term competitiveness in the livestock industry.
