Webometric Evaluation of Central Government Ministries' Websites in India

Abstract: This study intends to measure visibility, performance and link quality of central government ministries’ websites in India; for this purpose, the researchers have examined the concerned ministries’ websites of India. To evaluate these websites the concept of webometrics has been adopted. The required data is collected by applying web-based survey and observation methods from all union government ministries’ websites of India. Collected data has subsequently been analyzed and tabulated by using different webometric tools and techniques. The present study has analyzed domain system of the websites, the number of webpages and link pages and calculate the simple web impact factor, self-link web impact factor, external link web impact factor for the existing central government ministries’ websites in India and rank the websites as per the WIF.
