Year: 2025
Type: article
Abstract: This article presents a scholarly analysis of the genre characteristics of Uzbek folktales, focusing on their creation and performance processes, structure and content, functional aspects, and their relation to other oral tradition genres. Special attention is given to the social, cultural, and educational significance of folktales as a form of oral folk art. The type and motif structures of fairy tales have been analyzed based on the example of Khorezm folk tales. The historical-geographical approach serves as the primary methodological framework. Folktales are interpreted as an organic expression of the people’s worldview, aesthetic sensibilities, and moral values.
