Field Note on a Non-Jumping Grasshopper from Dumka, Jharkhand

Year: 2025

Type: article

Abstract: This field note documents a solitary grasshopper observed in Dumka, Jharkhand, India. The specimen showed non-jumping locomotion, grip-lock defense, and stridulation behavior. Locally known as “Aam Kida,” it was recorded under cool and moist monsoon conditions. This contribution adds to behavioral and ethno-entomological knowledge of Acrididae in Eastern India.
