Abstract: Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA) is a vital national interest to every nation with access to the sea. Over 70% of the Earth is covered in water, 80% of the global population lives in coastal areas, 90% of global trade travels over the seas, and 99% of global information travels through undersea infrastructure. Awareness of activity – on, above, and below – the surface is fundamental to national security. Effective MDA sustains economic growth, protects the population, and enhances the livelihood of all citizens. Saildrone, headquartered in Alameda, CA, with offices in Washington, DC, Florida, and Denmark, operates a global fleet of over 100 uncrewed surface vehicles, delivering the MDA nations need.
